I've been a very busy boy over the last few weeks and haven't had much time to work on my little Fishing Machine, but DO have it ready to fish now! It is functional, but not optimized or restored.

Vessel accomplishments:
Mounted a used ($10) MotorGuide 30lb. thrust trolling motor on the bow
Wired the MotorGuide
Acquired (for free from neighbor) a seat pedestal
Acquired (for $1) a used clamshell fishing chair
Acquired (from Wal Mart) a seat base swivel
Mounted chair to swivel, swivel to pedestal and pedestal to deck
Acquired and correctly mounted a big honkin' deep cycle 12v battery
Acquired and mounted a new fire extinguisher
Everything was mounted with all stainless fasteners.

Trailer:
Trailer bunks replaced and increased in length
Winch stand moved forward
Front roller moved forward
Trailer bunks recarpeted
Trailer fitments replaced
Trailer wheels moved forward to reduce tongue weight (now 100 lbs.)
Winch rope replaced with steel winch cable
Paint & touchup

As of now, the boat is fully fishable but not completely optimized. Functionality could be enhanced if I got the baitwell pump working. I actually rarely use live bait, so that item is on the back burner.

Pending near-term to do list:
Acquire and mount Group U-1 battery box for the starting battery
Acquire and mount bilge pump (yes, I have a bucket)
Install side bunks on trailer
Acquire and mount baitwell aerator pump
Acquire and mount additional rod holders

Future plans:
Acquire 35hp Mercury outboard (max rating) WITH power trim & tilt
Acquire and mount Mini-jack plate
Acquire and mount stainless prop
Acquire and mount hydrofoil (not smart tabs)
Remove and replace decking and bench seating
Gluvit as required
Increase size of front cap to allow reorienting trolling motor along the longitudinal axis of the vessel
Replace front fishing seat with the one pictured below
Replace and strengthen transom
Repaint the boat... see photo-edited scheme below
Clean and repaint everything on the boat that needs it
Acquire and mount electronics
Move and rewire switches? Not sure about that.

Getting there!

Wow, 27 views and no replies. Guess the info I presented was TOO complete!

Just wanted to add... today I sold the last of the items I traded as part of this whole Sea Nymph acquisition, making the total out of pocket cash expense for the boat, motor and trailer is down to just $200. That's the bottom line.

Sweet! :D

The mermaid was actually my girlfriend's idea. Nice lady!

And yes, the mermaid IS wearing a top, it's just hard to see in the small photo. I have a buddy who is an artist and he'll be able to actually paint the mermaid on the boat for me.

Still haven't decided whether or not to add the "Fishing Machine" title on there next to the mermaid. Whaddya think?

Thumbs up, especially for $200. I really like the mermaid on the side w/ Sea Nymph. As for the Fishing Machine, I say leave it off. Just my $.01, it's not worth $.02. ;)

Why? :D

That's about what I've done with my project boat, bought it for $2500 and sold off $2300 worth of stuff I wasn't going to use. So the hull, trailer and everything I was going to keep cost $200. (don't ask how much I've put into it )

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I also acquired a couple of small fenders. Gonna have to find some cleats and a place to mount them on the boat.

Re: Sea Nymph update

I love the paint idea for this boat....looks great...5 stars,,,include the
Sea Nymph name...it ties it all in....perfect...as far as having
"fishing machine" ...looks fine with or without it...if your trying to save money
I'd leave it off...with it on it looks more like a factory option...your
girlfriend is very generous.....I don't think my wife would be quite so happy
with it...although...hmmm...my wife does like the old pin-up pictures of women done by artists from the 40's & 50's..:).I can hardly wait to
see the pics of the new paint job when it is done:D....kinda wish my
boat was called a Sea Nymph...I'd steal/use your girl friend's idea....
hmmmmmm...what to do with the Star Craft name...:rolleyes:

Ya know... I've had time to think about it for awhile now and have decided NOT to put the "Fishing Machine" wording on the boat. The registration info up front will be done in that same lettering color as Sea Nymph, which will balance the fore and aft view.

Speaking of lettering... I'm thinkin' that it would be good to put all of it on with a silvery-gray reflectorized paint.

What do ya'll think?

And yeah... I'm lucky to have m'lady. :)
