We have a mid-late 60's 170 Sea Ray 120 Merc I/O. No key for switch to raise-lower outdrive. Hope this makes sense. Where may we find a replacement key, or key new key and switch. Low on funds, so prefer to get a key. Thanks, raceri69

Look on the area around the key. You may find a letter code. Take that code to the dealer and they will hand you a new key. There are only a few codes so you can take the boat to the dealer and they will use a "try-out" ring to find the right key. They simply use a different key until they find the right one.

If you remove the switch and take it to a local locksmith, they can cut a replacement key. I've done this a couple of times for a boat and vehicle door.

yep, agree with others on locating a key. dealer or a locksmith.

as for the tirm..
No key for switch to raise-lower outdrive. Ayuh,... I've Never seen a boat that requires a Key to operate the Trim....??
another way to say that would be most trim systems are not switched. they get there power prior to the key switch. the trim system is always live. ya don't need the key on to operate the power trim. check the connections on your trim system. clean all the contacts up with emery cloth. not, look at them and say they're ok, take them apart and really clean them would be a good start.....

Hello To all : Thanks lots for your help and suggestions ! We went to the Sea Ray Dealer, the Lock smith, and West Marine. No key to match anywhere, so we are going to search further, maybe we will have to replace switch with some kind of modified toggle switch. Happy Halloween !!!!! raceri69

i'll assume it's a mercrusier key? double sided?
you need to find a locksmith or dealer thats got the mercrusier set of keys. there's not to many keys. best info i'm coming up with is 12. 2 different keyways (the key section. looking down the end of the key. what prevents one key from entering or not entering a lock cylinder). so probably 6 combos. i've not been able to come up with spaces and depths for the key. but theres only 2 depths, cut and not cut. i do have pics of the 12 keys and various mercruiser blanks, but i don't know what good it can do.. ya gotta find someone with that set of keys. trial and error to the right one and then copy it..
if it's not a mercruiser lock. i got other suggestions..

get yer trim to work?

If you need a new ignition switch go to napa they have the marine switch with two new keys three post for alittle over twenty bucks. When I bought my last boat they had the wrong key to start it so I went to napa and changed out the switch in about 5 minutes. But your trim switch should be hot at all times if your battery is good.
