Boats a 96 century cuddy cabin with a 7.4 l mercruiser with the thunder bolt ignition.. was having trouble planing last year(felt like it had no balls) This season i replaced, coil, plugs, wires, had the carb rebuilt, oil, drive oil, prop reconditioned. The guy who rebuilt the carb said it was full of debris, I had a lot of water in the gas so i pumped some out by hand... Went through 4-5 fuel sperators and put on a clear inline fuel filter. The gas is from last year but i filled the tank and put fuel stabilizer in it..

Take the boat out it runs for a little bit(like garbage), studdereds and dies..doesnt start... Replace fuel/water seperater while on the water and the boat starts up. Putts along for a min or two and does the same thing. Clear in like fuel filter was sucked dry and as i cranked it it never had any gas sucked into it. Boats been nothing but problems...

I think you already have your answer: "lots of water in the gas". Get rid of all the fuel you have and replace it with fresh fuel, replace the fuel lines, replace the fuel filters and maybe rebuild the carburetor again, if needed.

anti-syphon rusted from the water? Try running on a remote tank.

I agree with Bt Doctur on this one, if it was just water the filter would not have gone dry sounds like an antisiphon valve or a plugged fuel tank vent to me.

If in fact you DO keep having a water problem, get a Racor fuel filter with a bowl that can be drained. This way you can drain the water without replacing the entire fuel filter. But if the filter is actually dry, I would suspect the anti-syphon valve as others have said.
