Took my baby to the Gulf of Mexico this past weekend and ran her for 3 days.

The Boat:
1974 Grady White 212 Chesapeake
The Drive Train:
NEW LONG BLOCK GM L6 250 cid / 165 hp with a MARINE Holley 4bbl
OMC "White Anchor" Electric Shift

Aaaahhhhh! How nice it feels to have new power in her!

I ran her at:
3000 rpms and she'd run at about 27mph
3200 rpms and she'd run at about 30mph
3500 rpms and she'd get to around 34mph

I didn't really have a need to get to WOT as "crusing" at 30 on the ocean is plenty fast, but I'm curious what WOT will do.

Running in 3-4' chop at 3000 rpms, she never skipped a beat. It didn't matter if the seas were following/head/quartering. I must say that in following seas, I was a little concerned at first as running down a wave and up the next one puts a strain on the motor, but she did fine.

I do need trim tabs next year, but for now, I'm happy to lean into a little wind. She got up on plane quick when using "Selectrim". I found it very easy to adjust trim by watching the tachometer.

42 Gallon tank would be 1/2 full AFTER having run 50-60 miles on the water. This was trolling and cruising.

Here are the results of her first outing... This is one of 7 for the day:

That's what it's all about... Catching fish and having fun with the wife!
