Hello everyone, spring is almost here!! So my father asked me to look into buying a new 40 HP outboard. He didn't specfy a brand. I found some off brand outboards probably from China. Any info on the ones in the title? Or any other brand? I'm pretty sure he don't want to spend 5 gs on an outboard. The ones above are about 2 gs plus shipping.

Parts and support - Look into those things. TYhis is where it all goes south, pretty much nonexistent.

Ask how much he's looking to spend.

buy two, you will need the second one for parts as you wont be able to get parts or service.

The Parsun is pretty popular in Australia/NZ and is basically a Chinese Yamaha clone. I would be leery of buying one in the US as there is little if any dealer network and parts support here. $2k will buy a clean used Mercury/OMC/Yamaha that will last a long time with parts and service available everywhere.
