SeaDek opinions

I am thinking of getting SeaDek on my swim platform. It would be a cut made from a template. Does anyone have this - I need some opinions. Along with any opinions I am wondering:

- How well does it fit when made from your template?
- how slippery/not slippery is it?
- I am in an indoor high and dry - the deck gets covered in nasty black powder from the lift's diesel fumes. Does this come off easily? It doesn't with my non-skid.

Thanks for any input.

Re: SeaDek opinions

I _believe_ the stuff on my swim platform is Sea-dek material, OEMed to my boat manufacturer. Assuming I'm correct, I have some input to your questions:

Q How well does it fit when made from your template?
A I didn't provide the template, however my deck has "Moomba" in handwriting in the center and it looks awesome. I can post a picture if you like.

Q how slippery/not slippery is it?
A Not at all. It's weird, when wet, your brain tells you it _should_ be slippery, but it's not. Other than your brain playing tricks, it's pretty non slip.

Q I am in an indoor high and dry - the deck gets covered in nasty black powder from the lift's diesel fumes. Does this come off easily? It doesn't with my non-skid.
A When my swimming platform gets dirty out of water, it's hard to clean unless I soak it. Given your situation, I would either 1) arrange to keep it covered (it should be easy to rig a small tarp), 2) Make sure yours is black (mine isn't, mine is light grey and white), 3) Both.

Hopefully that helps.

Thanks for the input. I'm glad to hear it's not slippery - that was one of my main concerns. I don't want to slide off the back while the deck is 8 ft. off the ground on a rack. They are sending a sample and I think I will set it on my deck for a week or two and see how it cleans up.

Sea Dek is widely used in my area on cockpits of medium to large sportfishing vessels. They hold up well in saltwater enviroment, sun, and some heavy fishing (and some big guys jumping around and spilling brews). These cockpits take a beating and Sea Dek has held up well. As good if not better than non-skid, but must be kept free of blood and guts as these make them slipery. I would personally recommend this product for a swimplatform, and get many years use.

Again, assuming my stuff is (or like) Sea Dek, it's holding up great on a 12 year old boat.

Definitely trying before you buy is a great way. Good idea!

I am no carpenter and even I can install the stuff.

Re: SeaDek opinions

Hi:

I have a Seadeck pad on my center console in front of the lean post. It stays outside year round and gets dirty frequently. It washes out fine with soap and water.
It is in salt water and sunlight and has done well for me. They are made well and hold up well. A bit overpriced, but would buy another one in the future.

Re: SeaDek opinions

Thanks for all the help. It sounds like I may be putting some on my rear platform.
