Should I use Seafoam or Marvel mystery oil to clean carbs/motor? Also, which is better add to fuel/oil mix. or spray directly into carb until eng. quits?

Re: Seafoam vs. Marvel mystery oil

There are "outboard" specific carb cleaners that also decarbon the motor. I had not heard of using marval mystery oil for that purpose. The best way to clean a carb is to re-build it and use a chlorinated carb cleaner to remove residue. Avoid spraying any carb cleaners into a running engine unless they are designed for an outboard. Normal carb cleaners will dissolve the oil in the gas and cause possible ring and cylinder damage.

I use a spray decarbon cleaner and carbon guard in my fuel tanks.

Bob
