Whats the deal with using seafoam?? The local boat dealers say they dont believe in it anymore. Do you guys use it and reccomend it? Is there any other way to do a decarb? I was just wondering.

Re: Seafoam????

Most of us have used Sea Foam, which is the same stuff BRP sells as Engine Tuner and Merc also has a similar product. Your dealers are ill informed. See Top Secret File, pinned at the top of the post luist for the recommended procedure.

What expensive brand name goop were the local boat dealers trying to sell you instead of the seafoam?

I use seafoam and deep creep regularly.

Well being Im from Oregon this state adds ethenol to the fuel. So if you guy gas for your boat anywhere but from the docks you have to add a ethenol treatment and thats all they said they had. I called Y-Marine and Coos Bay Marine and Coos Bay marine said "Hes not convinced to use it so I dont sell it"

These products have been around for over 40 years and are very effective decarbonizers. BRP and Mercury Marine wouldn't sell this stuff if it was questionable. Your dealers are ignorant.

Same stuff ... Deep Creep is inan aerosol can, Sea Foam is just in a pour type can. Most effective when mixed with gas ... use Sea Foam for that purpose.

I just read the decarb post about mixing it to 3/4 gallon of gas; but will it hurt it to also add the ethenol treatment? I dont what the Oregon politics to ruin my engine.

thanks.

A waste to mix in the gas tank, just MHO. BTW, the only effective ethanol treatment is removal until you get no more water. I have a bunch of Startron I need to get rid of since I learned that!

Re: Seafoam????

Here in NY we have had Ethanol in our fuel (10% or 15%) since Methuselah was a baby and we use Seafoam all the time with great results.

Check out tashasdaddy's "Classic Case of Ethanol Poisoning" thread to see what ethanol eventually does to older equipment without alcohol-resistant fuel lines/gaskets. Not pretty.

Re: Seafoam????

Anybody try Pri-G fuel treatment? I heard a couple people mention it on another site and they seemed pretty happy with it.
It's cheaper then Sea Foam.
I won't be buying any more Sea Foam since I feel they are gouging boaters for their product with their 50% price increase in the last year or so.
I bet they don't have more then $.50 tied up in producing a can of the stuff.
