I think I have a small bitt of dirt in the high speed jet. It has the slightest hesitation at WOT. I mean very
Very slight. Will Seafoam help this out?

I have a 86 Johnson 28 SPL.

Thanks

Re: Seafoam

Nope.

Sounds like a carb rebuild is in order...but have you checked:

Fresh fuel?
Fuel lines for air leaks?
Fuel filter?
Fuel pump?
Spark plugs?

Re: Seafoam

Depends on what "dirt" is. Worth a try. Seafoam is good tuff and safe to use in strong quantities. I use it almost every tankfull and sometimes strong mix on low tank just to make sure I have clean jets

Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to run some through it. If nothing else, you'll clean some carbon out of the motor.

I also like BRP "Engine Tuner." It does the same thing as Seafoam, but you don't have to mix it with the fuel. My usual procedure, is to pull the plugs, squirt some into each cylinder, replace the plugs and then let the motor sit overnight. The next day, I run the motor, applying Engine Tuner to each carb in rotation, until the cylinder being sprayed begins to falter. I then move on to the next carb and repeat the process, until I have emptied the aerosol can.

Like with Seafoam, this will result in lots of white smoke, but the stuff works quite well.

I just cant figure people out, if you think the jet is clogged CLEAN the carb!!!! If the jet is restricted you are running lean which results in higher combustion temps and less cylinder wall lubrication and chance of scuffing piston. I repair more engines damaged from carb problems than engines damaged by electrical or mechanical failure. Just my $.02....good luck.
