Re: Seafoam

I'm not a fan of adding solvents to 2-stroke gas cuz some can interfere with lubrication. On 4-strokes, no problem.

Get a couple cans and read the directions. For sure.

1. In general, you can mix up a super dose (two cans) of the stuff in a portable tank with about three gallons of gas. or premix if your engine is not oil injected.

2. Run that mix through the engine, let it sit overnight.

3. Run with regular gas, preferrably on the water where you can give the engine a thorough workout.

Decarbonizing is rough on spark plugs. You may have to change them.

Read the FAQ on Decarbing here.

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=000006

It won't interfere with lubing because it is lube based.
I use it in everything That I have that has a fuel burning motor.

I'll run out a get some. I've heard that it was good but wasn't sure if I needed to try it. Thanks :)

Re: Seafoam

I just did a decarb this weekend. Did it by way of spraying directly into carbs on a Johnson 90hp V4. I found it improved idle and midrange smoothness. Seemed to smooth out overall but maybe that's what I expected so that's what I saw as a result. (The power of suggestion is pretty strong.) Good luck and watch out for the smoke, it really smokes.

Dave

P.S. You're not Scott Parker from MA are ya?

I decarbed my 200 Evinrude, and it did get a lot quieter especially around 3000 or so where it makes it loudest resonance. Also seems to start much much quicker now as well, first turn of the key and only a few spins.
