Seahorse 15, loses power?

My Johnson 15 hp, runs great, starts almost always on the first pull, runs good at low speeds, however if i go past about 3/4 throttle it seems to act like its out of gear and the engine rpms shoot up. my great fix so far has been......back off a bit and go a little slower, im hoping there is a better fix. Thanks

It could be that your prop hub is slipping. You will need to scribe or mark a line from the splined hub to the prop itself and then run the motor again. If the line looks like it has moved, it means that the hub is spinning and you will need to have a new bushing installed or buy a new prop.
