I have a 1992 Sea Ray that started leaking oil from 2 small holes in the lower half of the drive just below where the upper and lower halfs of the drive split.
Any idea what seal could be leaking? Is there a seal kit for this?
Engine serial #OD812152
Thank you.

Best thing you can do is pull the drive, drain the gear lube, and pressure check the drive.
A common place for the early Gen II drives to leak is on the shift shaft seal. If that is is, change the complete assembly not just the seal. Could also be the seal retainer under the raw water pump impeller.

Don would you have the part numbers for the above mentioned seals?

Pull the drive and pressure check it, and find the leak first, don't just start throwing parts at it. Once you find where it's leaking, ask what's necessary to fix that particular leak.

Don when the drive is pressure checked how do you determine where the leak is without disassembly. I am not trying to be a smart *** just trying to learn. I have seen the oil coming from 2 small holes just below the split between the upper and lower cases.

Once you drain the gear lube and hook up a pump and gauge, pressurize it to about 10 to 12 psi and spray some soapy water on everything. Trust me, when the soapy water hits the air leak, you get all kinds of big bubbles.
Any spary bottle with a few drops of dish washing liquid will work great.

I checked the drive for leaks and found one in the lower half from the holes I mentioned earlier. The leak is the shift shaft seal. I am replacing the impeller and the seal from the water tube to the water pump as it was partially melted. Is there anything else I should replace while I am in here?
