Hi,
Got my new 2008 5.7L 350 started for the first time today. Ran great. Only one problem. On the remote oil filter, the part that the filter sits on there are the twp customary hoses. The other side has two threaded plugs. Those two plugs are leaking very slowly. There was no sealer on the plugs. Everything else but the plugs. I need to pull them. What sealer or sealant would anyone suggest.
Thanks Roman

Permatex #2 Form-A-Gasket, the brown stinky goop. Apply to a clean oil-free plug (spray with carb cleaner or brakleen, then allow to dry) and allow it to set up for a few minutes before threading it back in. I've also used Mercruiser's Perfect Seal or aviation sealant (which I'm about 90% sure are identical) with good results. Both of those are brush-on and pretty darn close to the #2, just a little bit thinner in consistancy.

I have also used pipe dope or teflon tape, it works OK as well. Be sure the plug is clean before putting anything on it though, otherwise it won't seal up properly.

Pipe dope with teflon OK
Teflon tape should NOT be allowed on a boat. Causes more problems that it cures. Mostly because people DO NOT know how to use it properly.
Permated #2 or #3 work great also.

Perfect Seal is really not for NPT (National Pipe Thread) connections.

Just about any good "pipe dope" is good for that.

But I like the following for just everything pipe thread.
