Sealing thru hull connectors

Hi guys I have a questions about my boat. I am replacing some thru hull connectors for the bildge pump & the gas tank vent. Also replacing 2 transom drains, this is on a 22 ft Chris Craft with a self bailing deck so they are just slightly above the water line.

My question is should I use a sealer between the fitting and the hull? Also I plan on putting new pedestal seats & replacing some deck plates and I assume I should seal around the base of them to prevent any water on the deck going down around them.

What type of sealant should I use?

Thanks
Rc

3m4200 if you ever plan on removing them again. 3m5200 is permanent and yhe parts will just about need to be destroyed to be removed.

or a good waterproof silicone marine caulk would do the trick as well. i used this with no leaks, and if you happen to break something it will come apart

Installing scupper is no place to be cutting corners. A leak at a scupper will most likly result in a rooten transom.

I just replaced the original plastic scuppers in my boat with stainless steel ones. The transom is almost 4" think at the point where the scupper comes through the transom so we coated the inside of the hole with 2 coats of penetrating epoxy to seal the wood. We then used generous amounts of 3M 5200 fast dry to bed the scuppers and to seal them to the hull.

New, double clamped hoses between the scuppers to the cockpit drain completed the task.

Silicon would work for the seats but it should not be used at or below the water line.
