Seals on upper

I can see the spring on the oil seal just behind the ball gear on the upper. Is this normal?

A picture would help. There's 2 seals back to back, are you seeing the spring on the inner seal?

It is just the outer seal that I can see. I hope the pics help you. I worry that it is working its way out. No water in the upper after a quick inwater test last week.

It looks just a tad too far out for my comfort zone. As to whether it can work its way out or not, those animals usually are set in there rather firmly and don't generally have "play" in them.

You have a photo to reference now, I would keep my eye on it. (Meaning keep an eye on your oil levels and make sure you aren't finding water in there.)

Oil seals are cheap. Gear sets aren't.
