Re: SeaPro comments

All of the "Sea" boats are about the same--decent mid-level boats with low price, easy maintenance, and a tolerable level of problems and flaws. Sea Pro went out of business a couple of years ago, but generally you won't deal with a manufacturer after a couple of years anyway. But because there is no effective hull warranty, for a boat that size, I'd get someone who knows hulls to inspect it.
Yamahas are good solid motors.
All the rest will be a function of the previous owner's care or neglect. Keep in mind that an engine that hasn't been used much is worse off than one that has.

I dont know all about the overall quality of the brand but can give my expieriance on one.
My BIL has a 05' 21 Sea Pro CC and loves it. It is a very capable boat. His has a jack plate and lenco tabs. I have been on it in some really skinny water.
Does exactly what it was designed to do and does it well. He is a parttime charter guide and has never had any issues at all that I know of. Very nice boat.

Brunswick Corp. was the most recent owner of the Sea Pro brand. A little over one year ago they announced the closure of the Sea Pro plant in SC "so they could concentrate their resources on other brands". Although I have not owned one, I shopped 18-19WA's a few years ago and decided Sea Pro was the choice based on quality, features and price. Had to pass on it because of homeowners association rules requiring it to be garaged. They are well-built boats that were very popular on the SE coasts. Good luck with your search.

Generally speaking boat manufacturers go out of business because they build too good a boat for the price point and thus profit suffers. It tends to be the manufacturers of the cheapest junk boats that thrive due to the huge numbers of uninformed boat purchasers. The fact that Sea-Pro went out of business is probably means they built a good boat. The ones I've been on looked to be very well made.

I see your logic, but I don't think it's completely true. They do go out of business due to lack of profits, but that's because many do not understand the markets they are in, and they don't operate their business efficiently.

Sea Pro was a middle line boat with no real loyalty. Few boaters ever hoped to own a Sea Pro.

But they were ok boats.

Re: SeaPro comments

thanks for comments so far. The Seapro I'm interested in is fresh water while the Pursuits I like are salty. Value comparisons are difficult. Comments on Pursuits?? one is I/O and the other is outboard (Yamaha 2 stroke w/650 hrs)

I love my 21cc seapro, lenco tabs hydraulic jack plate and a second sterring station.
I powered mine with an F150, it came with a 200 HPDI.
on the 250 HPDI its imperative you take it by a dealer with at least 1 master tech and make sure all updates have been correctly done and a general powerplant inspection.
the fact that they went out of business has nothing to do with quality and all to do with brunswicks bean counters, same as albemarle and lund and almost boston whaler, as well as a few other of brunswicks attempt to monopolize the industry.
they needed hulls to hang motors and overbought.
now they are laying off and closing plants.
well all but the 30 million dollar one in china and the other one(in china) thats proposed.

WINGNUTS: I have a 07' 270wa with twin 200 verados and absolutely love the boat. I have only minor issue on the access to waste water tank, which in my boat is tough to get too. I have had it 75miles offshore out of Ocean City MD. trolled all day and back and still had just under a half of tank of gas. If you need parts they are around and there is places to find replacements. If the hull checks out by a survey then I would say go for it.:D
