Hi all,
I'm interested in purchasing a new Searay 180. The price in CA is $1399.00. Out the door with a bimini top will be $16,500. The seller will not negociate. The price is fix as is.

I'm a first time boat buyer so please help with some questions:
a. Is this a fair price?
b. Does Searay offer rebates throughout the year? Typically which month and how much?
c. Is it better to buy at the end of the year like one would buy a car? The assumption is they want to get ride of the current year's boats?

thanks.

If I could buy a new 180 with 3l motor for $16000 I would kiss the ground the seller walks on and be his slave forever.
The same will sell for at least $40000 in my area, IF available.
D

Don't know about your area, but up here we only have a 6 month boating season.. the fall is the time to buy if you can wait. Dealers don't want to hold on to stock over the winter, not so much to make room for new models, but because they have money tied up in the boats, and may need the money to make it through the slow season.

Jim

Seeing that this will be your first boat I would recommend a new bayliner. More than likely you will want a bigger boat in a few years, so why spend so much now? They are now owned by the same company as sea ray, and the quality has gone way up. You could buy a new 18' with warranty for 14,000. They also sell a 17' with a 3.0 for 10.000 with trailer.
Check this site out to get an Idea. http://www.marineusainc.com/bayliner/runabouts/runabouts.htm
