I'm considering the purchase of the Azure 270 bow rider or the Searay 240 Sundeck. Any thoughts from owners? I know one is a bow rider and one is a deck boat, but other than that I'm interested in thoughts on your experiences.

These 2 boats are completely different- in size as well as use. Seems to me you need to decide exactly what kind of boat you want.
Never been on one but I've heard Azure's are very nice boats. I'm not a big Sea Ray fan but they're popular.

I know one is a bow rider and one is a deck boat, but not sure they are completely different. As far as size the Azure is 27' and the Seray is 26'6", so pretty similar in size. They will both be used for cruising and watersports on an inland lake.

Azure is a division of Bennington Marine and they actually stand behind their boats, if there is a problem it will be fixxed right.

I am assuming these are both new boats?

They are both new boats, 2008. The pricing seems to be pretty decent considering the current economic conditions. The Azure does have the bigger engine. 375 HP vs 300 HP in the Searay.

Re: Searay vs. Azure

I went to the Azure website and don't see a 270 in their 2009 lineup - 278 though ...... Maybe 2008 was a bit different?

Anyways, I spend a while on an Azure sportdeck at a local boat show and was extremely impressed with the boat. Nice. GREAT layout and space usage - I think it was a 240. I have never ridden in one though. has a deep hull so I assume it's takes on chop well. No idea how similar the bowriders are.

The listed length of the boats mean nothing. Some include molded swim platform, which adds nothing to interior space. Find out specific dimensions and get inside and compare them.

Four Winns was the other boat at the show of that type and in that general price range that I loved. Again, great layout, seemed great quality with useless bells/whistles.

So a 26'6" Searay deckboat with a smallblock motor vs. a True Deep V and a Big Block?

That makes the decision easy one for me, and if you spend some time in either, I think you'll will see the Azure is built to a very, very nice level. They are marketed as luxury cruisers for a reason. If the price was close, go azure.
