Searched, can't find year from serial number (Canada)

Hi, I've been reading a lot of the posts here and have searched for this info.

I've just bought my first boat, and it came with a 40 hp Merc. I have the serial number and tried the suggested charts for finding the year, but it seems to be missing on every chart. I know that it's about 1984 and it's from Canada.

The serial number is 7207855.

The closest I find is 1983 with serial #'s that start with 7202538 from maxrules.com.

eepks - exactly, that's one of the ones I looked at.

I can't find an exact match. I don't know why. I'd like to get a factory manual, but I want to make sure I have the right information first.
