sears 3.5- weak spark

I have a 1977 3.5 sears that has a weak spark.I replaced the condensor but that didn't help. I took the rubber spark plug boot off and can get spark while gronding it out. but, if I put the spark plug on or a spark tester it will not jump the gap. Does anyone have any suggestions?<br />Thank you for any help.

sounds like a weak coil.sears still sells them ,but you might find one cheaper /off of another old motor
