I've been running a Tanaka/Sears 3HP for 29 years now. Sounds like you have a fuel restriction in the line, petcock, etc., or a restriction in the gas tank vent(screw on cap should be open)....very simple and easy motor to work on. Good Luck!runs great at idle speeds but at top end it slows down or dies
There are different positions for the carb slide needle to adjust mixture....move that clip up or down to change amout carb needle opens that main jet....very simple!I just got a 3.0 gamefisher. I have not found any adjustment on the carb besides the idle screw.. Seems to be running real rich. Under a load it just seems to not run like it should. At WOT in the water if you pull the choke on it slowly just dies. I have completely takin the carb apart and cleaned. Also cleaned the take. Took pet **** off and replaced with a fuel shut off..any suggestions?

If you move the clip to it's upper position, that lowers the needle, which reduces the amount it opens the main jet and it runs less rich...try thatI just moved the clip to the lowest setting on the needle to where it would open the most. Still no change. It sounds just like your weedeater sounds when you have to much line out.
