I'm unsure on the year (late 80's/early 90's)but I have a sears gamefisher that over heats on load. It'll run forever in a bucket and no problems, but when put on a boat and under a load, (higher rpm also) it over heats and cuts off. Any ideas?

Re: sears gamefisher overheating

Few things can cause an engine to overheat. Running too lean, timing off (look at flywheel key), or water not circulating. If this is the old eska takeoff made by Tecumseh it will have a iddy biddy impeller above the lower unit. Make sure the intake holes are not clogged. Inspect the impeller if needed. The waterpump on these only cools the exhaust...it's actually an air cooled engine. Don't ask me why they built them this way... but that's what it is...
