Hello everyone....am looking for ANY info on this motor. HP, Parts availablity, etc. Got it in a trade that I would say I got the worst end of the deal. Now am wondering if i should put it out for scrap or try to make it run. It did start when i got it, but first time on lake left me and my fishin parter in the middle with only a trolling motor. LOL Problem right now is getting thew flywheel off the shaft. Tried pulling and heat but no luck. I see some parts are available at sears, but really needs a new tank and carb work from what I can see. Waiting to hear from someone with some knowledge of this one. Thanks John

Re: Sears Model 217 58511

well it looks like you have a 1969 3.6 hp made by eska, probably a tecumseh AV-520 powerhead.before you tear into the entire unit have you done a spark and compression test?getting that done first will point you in the right direction of the repair work ahead. the carbs are usually typical tecumseh carbs that are pretty easy to work on. if you have a pump element in the carb i recommend a new one part number 630953, you should also be able to find a basic carb rebuild kit for it as they are common part number 631978 should have most parts you need to rebuild the carb,"needle seat bowl gasket welch plugs". if you need more help just keep posting as there are many individuals who can help you. welcome to iboats and good luck with your project.

Thanks for the information. Found some of that later that day as I continued to look on the web. Do you know if the Flywheel is still available and if so where I might start to look? Mine is cracked. Got it off today, and found two large cracks in it.

not sure if the flywheel is available, you might try e-bay or the eska group at yahoo for some help. mr crabs or mahtymaht might also be able to give you some websites for assistance. good luck on your hunt.
