Hey everyone! Im new to the forum and I need help on this motor that came with a 14 foot jon boat! The motor that is currently sitting on the motor is a 3.6 HP Sears Motor. The only problem with it, is that it looks very dirty and the insides also look very dirty. What can I do to take it apart and clean apart all the insides of the motor? Also, is there a way to tell if the motor needs new parts? I am not very knowledged, but I am willing to learn! Thanks in advance for helping out!

Re: Sears Motor Help

Before you tear everything apart I would use marine Grez Off. You should be able to get it at any boat shop. Stuff works great, just spray it and wash it off. Make sure to duct tape up the carb inlet.

Re: Sears Motor Help

Last night we were able to get it started. but then it started leaking and it flooded the carb bowl, and it started leaking from the top of it. Today I put the insert needle in the right place since we realized it was put in wrong, and now I the motor wont start, and it still leaks a small amount from the bottom of the carb bowl. Is the leaking from the bottom of the bowl normal? or should there not be any gas in the carb bowl at all? Please any help or advice will be appreciated. I am so lost
