Recently I posted a rant about how Sears had changed their policy in June of rebating the cost of delivery and haul away of appliances from a cash refund to a store credit in the form of a Sears gift card.
I understand now that the policy is not a gift card, but a Mastercard debit card that can be used anywhere. It's entirely possible that this was the new policy all along and that what I experienced was normal mis-communication that sometimes occurs when new policies are instituted (at the time I even verified the change from cash rebate to store credit with the store manager).
So, to be fair to the company, I'd like to amend my original report to say the policy of rebating the cost of delivery of new appliances and haul away of the old was changed from a cash rebate to a Mastercard debit card that can be used anywhere, not just at Sears.

For those who are curious, I ended up repairing our old dryer myself at a cost of $21.75 for parts and $4.95 for shipping. There are some good appliance repair videos on YouTube. I couldn't find one that helped in my particular situation, but the ones I did find provided needed inspiration to forge ahead. -Ken
