Thanks in advance for your help. I was given a 15 hp ted williams engine to use as a kicker motor. Not sure of year and only have a partial model # 217?586XX-1, it has been rubbed off, but I hope this helps.

Here's the question: Pee Hole/ Tell Tale....I'm looking for water to come out the exhaust holes on the leg, logical..but none...BUT I do have water coming out of a hose that runs out the base of the cowling area and was assuming that this may be the tell tale/pee hole, cause it sure looks like it. BUT I'm not sure. I just ordered a new impeller just in case.

I don't know any history about this motor only what I've read on these forums which is helpful but at the same time discouraging about this motor. I does start on the first pull and idles great and for free whats to lose.

Thanx,

You can check http://home.earthlink.net/~brixent/Model217585870-586351.htm and see if you can match it up with your motor. I have a few 9.9's, which were identical to the 15's of the day. As long as the water coming out the "pee hole" is not hot, your motor is cooling ok. If the impeller is more than a few years old, it is always a good idea to replace it.
Hope this helps.

Re: Sears Ted Williams 15 hp tell tale pee hole question

Thanks Winman99,

I just received the new impeller in the mail today and put it in, my first impeller change, thank goodness for these forums. I am getting some water out of the holes in the leg now, not a steady stream, more of spurt with the exhaust coming out. As far as heat wise, its warm but not hot and this is with it running in a 5 gallon bucket of water. I took a pic of it with the cowling off but I'm not sure how to attach it to this response.

Thanks once again!!
