I did the search and can not find the info on how to replace the seal on a Seastar Helm. Does anyone know how hard this is and how to do it step by step. I could not find it on their web site.

The seal kit comes with very good instructions.

What I need to know ahead of time is how long will this take and if any special tools are needed. Also I would like to know if it is a fairly easy repair or very involved. I don't want to buy the kit and then find it is more than I want to get into.

Re: Seastar helm seal leak

its a simple project once the helm is out.. label your lines.

99% of the time it'll be the front seal. about a 1" diameter o-ring. just follow the instructions closely. if i remember that helm correctly, there are 2 marks on the casing that are clocked 90 degrees from each other, not aligned. the most common mistake is to align them.

shouldn't take more than a couple hrs start to finish...
