since ive replaced my carpet in my bass boat, ive decide to replace my seats as well. It had captian type seats at the helm with a small seat in the middle. under that is a built in cooler. I found that having my seats reupostered was going to be to expensive, so i bought a really nice bench seat to use instead.
My question is this: I want to do away with the fold down brackets that came on the seat and permently mount the back rest part to the boat and use hinges to mount the bottom so i can still acess the cooler. Whats the best way to mount the back rest part of the seat to the boat?

Re: seat conversion question

I'm assuming you have something to mount it to , but no way to fasten it through the upolstery, right?.

if you cant get behind the mount to screw in from the back, you'll have to get some ball & socket mounts or perhaps make some mating hooks like they use on heavy artwork. There's always Velcro, but that would be my last resort.

maybe like this? http://store.anchormarina.com/anchor/details.php?ITEM=0227135

Re: seat conversion question

Went to the harware store today and found some mating hooks (like for large pictures and art), looks like they may work out well.
Thanks for the input.
