seat uphostery?

I think the seats to my 1985 Seaswirl have been exposed to too much sun. I have been working on the motor most of the summer. Now that I have the motor runnig I went to take the boat out and the seat were like glue.

Are there any suggestions on how to recover them. Is there some kind of cover that I can purchase that slips over the seats already? They are not like captains seats but the type the can lay out to a large bench.

Thanks in advance

Re: seat uphostery?

they do make some terry cloth covers for the lounge seats, I think west marine has them, maybe even iboats they work in a pinch but not the greatest. I just did the vinyl in my boat last winter, got 20 yds of marine vinyl and grandma's sewing machine. check some fabric stores to see if they would sew new ones for you. If you find some one, you can pull your old covers off, give them to someone and they can use it as a pattern. there is also somewhere online that you can mail your old covers to, and they will make new ones and send them back, but it was a bit pricey if I remember. I got the vinyl for 200 but it was a pain having never sewn before (and a lot of ribbing from my wife) but they did turn out great

If you have a Joannes Fabric new by you can the vinyl from them. Check the paper for their ad or just go in and ask for one. Every week they have a coupon for material. I got some last week for the side panels on my bayliner cuddy. The coupon was for 50% off. So I got mine for 30 bucks. If you or your wife are handy with a sewing machine you can take they old covers off and take them apart. Use them as a pattern and just sew them back together. I little time consuming but alot cheaper then having somebody else do it.
