Hey all,

I'm working on figuring out my seating arrangement on my 16' Lund. Its a very basic three bench seat layout. I'm going to bolt on the little spinning seat tops like these but the ones that are like 1" tall. I know that since its a tiller motor that the back seat has to be off center and I steer with my left hand that seat will be offset over there. I'm only going to put a seat on the back and the front. I'm thinking that my boat is big enough(16') and wide enough (68" I think) that I can put the front seat in the center of the bench. I thought I would ask you guys what you think.

Here is a photo of my boat seats. Its the best I got.

Re: Seating arrangement

Thanks tash. Those are the exact seats I have. I do like the cup holder attachment, I havent see that before.

I know that on my father in laws 12' lund we have to sit staggered or its way to heavy to one side, but this boat is a lot wider, longer and overall bigger so I was wondering how much I have to worry about that. Any thoughts?

Re: Seating arrangement

these are extremely comfortable.

^^^ YUP!

I don't know how much gear weight you have to play with in your boat. But I set up my 14' jon boat to where it's balanced with the driver off set to one side and then the batteries on the other side. When passengers go along they sit centered in the boat and it's still balanced.

Re: Seating arrangement

I have a 6 gallon tank that will be on the opposite side as me and a heavy trolling motor and battery that i'm going to try to set on the opposite side. So I was thinking that it would offset my weight enough to be able to center that front seat.

Sounds like it should work fine, only way to be sure is to take it to the lake and see how level it floats with you and the gear in different locations. It will work best to move the weight forward, and the closer you are to the boat's center, the less weight it will take to offset and balance the boat.

Re: Seating arrangement

On my little 12' aluminum boat, I built a little platform that attached to the front of the rear seat and had sides that reached the bottom of the boat. I used 1x10 lumber to build it. I mounted the seat swivel on that platform.

That moved my seat forward, so I could sit in the center and run the outboard by dropping my hand behind the swivel seat. It works great, and helps keep the boat balanced. The tiller handle is clear of the seat, so it can turn it's full range.

It also moved my lard butt forward, which helped with weight distribution.
