SeaTow MMSI registration down?

First I should say hi as this is my first post here.

Now that everyone knows me ;), does anyone have any information about why SeaTow's MMSI registration page has been down for so long? It seems like it's been down for over a week or two. This is the URL to their normal MMSI registration page: http://www.seatow.com/boating-safety/mmsi/register

I recently sold a boat and want to 'deregister' my MMSI number as I left the radio on the boat and certainly don't want anyone calling me if the new owner decides to press that distress button on the radio wondering what it will do.

But the SeaTow MMSI registration page has been showing 'sorry we're doing maintenance' for a few weeks now. I called and the young lady that answered the phone said her page is down too and she expected it to be back up the next day. Of course it wasn't.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any more information on this, or is there any other way to de-register the MMSI number that I origiinally registered with SeaTow?

Regards,
Rich

Re: SeaTow MMSI registration down?

It seems that SeaTow's MMSI registration pages are back up, but the web site doesn't show any means to be able to cancel a registration. Also, no one on the phone there seems to know how to cancel a registration. I called and was told to email them via their website. I did this and several days have gone by with no answers. I guess I'll have to call back and ask for a supervisor.

Have gone through that process 3 times with Boat Us and never a problem. After canceling insurance with them the check arrived quickly too.

The MMSI and the Registration Numbers stay with the Boat.
That is why, once the MMSI is entered into the radio, it can't be changed without going back to the manufacturer.

The MMSI is used so that Search and Rescue knows to search for the REG Number on a Blue and White 24 foot Cruiser.
Just change or Remove the Contact information. It is optional.
