Seats on a V bottom jon boat

I am wanting some ideas on how you attach a swivel boat seat to a aluminum jon boat i dont want to go with the clamp on type im a pretty big guy.. also would like to stay away from getting a pedestal that raises me up too high. The seat came with a

can i just go strait to the bench seat or do i need to put a piece of wood then then the swivel its a 1959

Your strongest installation will be to attach the swivel to a piece of 3/4" plywood and the fasten the plywood to the bench.

I'd make the plywood the full width of the bench (a plywood top for the bench) and use 1/4-20 stainless steel T nuts on the underside of the plywood to fasten the swivel down with. T nuts look like this:


Fasten the plywood top down to the aluminum bench top with stainless stell sheet metal screws or aluminum pop rivets. I'd fasten around the perimeter of the plywood 6-8" on center for a sturdy installation.

Be sure to paint or seal your plywood before installation.
