Please show me how you are rigging your boats for seats. I am thinking about putting a removal post seat in the rear for the operator, it will have a locking swivel to be safe and legal. Up front is a different matter. One thought is to get a marine cooler the width of the boat and put a padded seat on it, this would give me a place to put my gear and keep it dry. Anyone do this?

option 2 is to get one of the zodiac bench seats and mount 2 seats up front on it. This is the big bucks way to go as the benches are $300 each from zodiac.

I have looked at the seat brackets at boats2go and that is an option, however seeing if anyone has a better idea.

Re: Seats??

i made a storage box with the ends cut to fit amd match the tupes for the front, holds need to reach fast gear as well as use for a mount for the fishfinder screen and rod holders. it just sits on the floor, due to the curve for the tubes its secure up n down wise.

Re: Seats??

What did you make it out of? wood, diamond plate aluminum? sounds very cool got pics? (this coming from the guy that seems to have 2 left thumbs when attaching photos)

Does this cause any chafing issues on the tubes? what about front to back play? sounds like an idea that needs exploring.

Re: Seats??

just 3/4 pine, used to be shelves, sand the tube areas smooth, coat ends with silicone as a added precaution, and varnish. front to back is tight, but loose enough to move as needed, let some air out, when tubes are full, box doesnt move. in photo, its a little taller than now, i took off some so its height is just above the mitpoint on the tubes. made with a jigsaw, screwguin , and cheapo 1.25 a set small hinges. use cardboard to make a template for the end piece against the tube, then transfer to your wood, and TAKE YOUR TIME!!!

Re: Seats??

I used aluminum checker plate, the gas tank is under the seat in the rear box, the front seat is on a base, the rear seat also has brackets for the downriggers. 2 inch alunium square tubing are light and work great. the total weight of the aluminum is 45 pounds. Hope this helps.

Re: Seats??

I like these from NRS. Comfy, strong. Also mounting them to a frame like this means all the weight is carried on the tubes for a smooooth ride.

Good luck.

Cool, I really like the downrigger idea. I plan to use mine for crab and this would be a good way to rig a pulley system.
