seawater got into my tilt & trim unit. any ill affects?

1991 merc 90hp 3 cylinder.<br /><br />i got saltwater in my tilt unit recently and have since flushed it all out with fresh tranny fluid, but what else should i do, if anything. did the sea water cause me some permanant damage?<br /><br />i have since fixed the probl;em, the filler screw had a hole in it. i have also replaced the vent screw, too, just for safe keepings.

If you thoroughly flushed it and it still works you should be OK. I assume that you used new seals/gaskets for the fill/drain plugs. You might check the fluid level frequently for a time.
