The spindle which the impeller mounts on seems to have bored it's way through the pump cover.. I don't know how it did this with the woodruff key engaged in the impeller.. I couldn't find the cover separately so on he advice of a a marine tech, I all-welded a penny over the whole but it didn't hold.
I since have found an available cover for half the price of a new pump(!) but I'm concerned it's going to happen again.
Would anyone know why and how the spindle in pushing out? I have a photo but it won't allow me to attach to message. I'ts hard to explain without the image.
