I see a few other topics dealing with similar problems as mine but don't see their problems
were ever resolved. I recently reported my 1968 55hp Evinrude stopped running, receiving
little help I determined it was the Amplifier Assemble ($310) bucks. After installing a
after market Motorola/Delta Amplifier that I was told was more better then the factory
equipment. Tested 9.9 volts in, 12.3 at beginning of crank but leveled out at 9.9 during crank.
Output to coil around 240 volts. Battery excellent, Points new and adjusted, Start tested,
Ground checked, she started right up smooth as ever.

Launched boat, Started motor and stopped a dozen time within two hour, beach for lunch,
pushed out into deep water, hit key only to hear engine pop and starter kicked out. Happened
several time, finally engaged but failed to start. Start tested to be good, tested input to
amplifier, 9.9 volts output Zero, dead again.

What on earth could have already ruined a new assembly in two hours time?

Ignition coil, grounds. If it is a Rapair amplifier should have 12 month warranty, and instructions if any would say replace coil.

Re: Second Dead Amplifier Assembly

It is a Rapair Amplifier and it came with it's own replacement coil which I did replace. All the ground wires appear to be in good condition.
