This will be something to keep your eye on...

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Security at the Port of Miami was tightened Sunday after three people, two of them hidden inside a truck, allegedly tried to enter the port illegally, federal law enforcement sources said.

The FBI said the three were being held on state charges.

"The cargo area is closed for now while the FBI, Miami-Dade police, and Customs and Border Patrol search the truck container," said Port of Miami spokeswoman Andrea Muniz. "The port side handling passengers remains open."

Sunday is typically a busy day for cruise ships at the port.

Though the port as a whole remains open, cargo is not leaving the port while additional container searches are under way, a spokesman for the Coast Guard said.

Federal law enforcement sources described the three as being of Middle-Eastern descent. The driver was described as being of Iraqi descent and one of the other men appeared to be of Lebanese descent, the sources said.

Naaaah, They were 89 year old grandmothers from Iowa, in their Halloween costumes just havin' some fun. That profiling stuff conservatives want never works: don't you know? I'm sure they will get the ACLU to sue the port! JR

They shut down the cargo side of the port, nothing out while they search containers..... they obviously think something is afoot.

They're probably illegals from Dubai and got stuck on the proverbial slow boat from China and never got the word that Dubya's bizarre deal to hand over American port operations to Dubai got nixed by popular demand. ;)

Edit: Turns out they are legal US citizens of Iraqi and Lebanese origin. I smell a lawsuit. :(

With help from your buds over at the ACLU, hm, WbW?

Even US citizens trying to circumvent customs will be in deep doo doo. No help from the ACLU on this score.

What are you talking about Boomer. The ACLU has helped defend NAMBLA. Exactly how could they stoop any lower? And then I get to hear the same sanctimonious types berating Foley. Kool-aid?

Back on topic, what where they thinking? Any chance the MSM will honestly report it? Hopefully honest people will provide honest answers, but the PC lifestyle we all enjoy will probably prevent it.

There appears to be conflicting stories at this time.... wonder if we'll ever know the truth?

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Security at the Port of Miami was tightened Sunday after three people tried to drive a truck into a secure area without the proper documentation, police said.

The incident began at about 8 a.m., when the driver of the 18-wheeler, which was loaded with cargo, was unable to produce required paperwork, said Robert Williams, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department.

When the driver was taken from the truck and interviewed, "some of his actions determined that something might not be correct here," Williams told reporters.

Conflicting accounts by authorities make it unclear whether the two were in the container portion of the vehicle or just in the cab portion, behind the driver.

Williams said the parties were detained and interviewed by the FBI.(Watch Miami-Dade Police answer questions about the men )

A bomb squad was sent "as a precaution" to check the vehicle, he said.

Port of Miami spokeswoman Andrea Muniz said the cargo area was closed.

But Williams said neither the passenger nor the cargo side of the port was closed.

Williams said the three are from the Middle East.

A law enforcement source told CNN the incident does not appear to be related to terrorism. Law enforcement officials told CNN the three appear to be in the United States legally.

Though Williams said no charges had been filed, the FBI said the three were being held on state charges.

Sunday is typically a busy day for cruise ships at the port: Passengers come ashore in the morning and new passengers arrive for late afternoon departures.

Federal law enforcement authorities described two of the three, including the driver, as being of Iraqi descent and the other as being of Lebanese descent. But Williams said their nationalities had not been determined.

Unlike you,the ACLU is color blind and will defend anybodies civil rights.
These are the rights granted to every US citizen. In fact, dislike it though you may,the ACLU is defending your and my rights as granted by the constitution and thus protects the constitution from being chipped away at by contemporary political interests.

I don't understand the reason for this thread...is it to point out that not all Middle-Easterners are terrorists?

So now i am a racist? Doesn't that same sick, twisted BS get old after a few dozen years?
Do you even know of what ethnicity I am? Or does this bilge just automatically spew-forth every time one of your liberal institutions are challenged.
