Hi All;

I've been looking for a fairly reasonably priced used inflatable and came across an older Zodiac MK: 4 with a 50 hp Merc and trailer for $3,500 Cdn = about $2,600 US.

That seems like a good price for an almost 17 ft. boat but what are the pitfalls with an older inflatable?

Any Zodiac MK: 4 owners other than the US Navy Seals out there? :)

It really depend what it is made of.If it is pvc and older ,then I would stay away from it.If it is hypalon it would be worth considering.Hypalon lasts and lasts.PVC must be cared for closely and it still does not last nearly as long as hypalon.Thats why hypalon costs so much more.Charlie

Inflateables aren't made to last forever. Exactly how old is it? And how well was it cared for? If it was covered and/or stored inside it's worth checking out. If it's been sitting out in the harmful uv rays for years and years, be prepared for problems!
