SEI replacement drive for merc

Does anyone know anything about the SEI replacement outdrives for mercruiser out of Clearwater FL.?

I have not used one personally, but there are members that have......
The consensus is that they are OK.....
I'm sure some who actually own them will ad their insight.......

I have one on my boat and have had it for a couple years now. It works great - the only quality issue seems to be the finish. It corrodes fairly easily. Whatever paint they use doesn't stay on too well, but mechanically I've had no issues.

Howdy,
I have a one year old SEI drive on my boat. So far mechanically it's great, my only complaint is that it has a promenent gear whine at idle speed. I contacted SEI and they said that it was normal. Might also be that I have an aluminum boat, perhaps it resonates sound more than glass.
I agree with Fishmark, the finnish could be a little more robust as far as it's adhesion to the aluminum. Just keep it waxed and don't ding it, you'll be just fine . I would purchase another if I had to, , , knock on wood.

I wasn't happy when I put one on a customers boat a u-joint let go.They repaired the drive,but we had $1600.00 damage on the boat.This happened in the first 5 hours after installation.

I have an SEI lower on my boat, I have only had it for one season but no complaints so far. My boat is trailered, so I don't expect to have any issues with corrosion as was mentioned above.
