I've got a 2006 Chaparral 246 ssi sitting on a roadrunner trailer. The trailer jack with wheel is almost impossible to crank up. I've greased it and no change. Its leaking grease out all over the place, so seems it needs replacing. I noticed its not bolted onto the trailer but has a round C clip of some sort holding it on. Is there a way to remove this and for my size boat, what would be the recommended size replacement wheel jack ?

I also need to replace the front winch. There are some teeth missing on it and it slips and has become difficult to line it up sometimes. What is the recommend size winch to buy ?

Maybe it is a. Bulldog jack. Post a picture and you may get some good suggestions.

If the winch is in otherwise good condition you may want to contact the manufacturer to see if they have a replacement gear. Years ago, Fulton sent the part at no cost to me and it was an easy swap. This was after my former boss decided to do his impression of He-Man and cinch my boat up to the winch post - shattered the gear in the process.

If the winch truly needs to be replaced, I like the double geared units - one gear on each side of the spool - as in my humble mind its less stress than a single gear unit.

As for the jack, would need a picture but most new jacks come with U-bolts to attach. If not, it's fairly common hardware to get from a local hardware store.

What the OP described sounds like an external snap ring that holds a swivel jack onto it’s spindle. If not, I always try to use a quality swivel jack so that it saves the work of fully retracting the jack every time you use it.

Yes, its a ring holding it on thru the center, no bolts.

It sounds like a Bulldog brand. If so, it should have a model number on it.
