Hey guys,
I recently purchased a 2006 Bayliner 195 with 4.3L Mercruiser and it's almost time to service it.

I was just curious-do you guys do your servicing yourselves, or do you take it to the shop?

What are you servicing the drive, the engine, and how invilved are you wanting to get? A basic oil change in the engine and gear lube change in the drive always do myself. Pull engine to replace coupler might have the mech do it as I don't have the space or all the tools to do it. Kind of depends on what you are wanting to do service is a very broad term in boats.

Sorry you are right-there are way too many things that may need servicing at one point or another.

I am coming up on 300 hours and I read that every 50 hour interval I believe an oil change needs to be done and at 100 hour interval a few more things need to be checked/performed. So right now it is not in need of any "repairs."

Does that help?

Howdy,

If you do not have an owners manual, go up to the "Adults Only" message at the top of this forum. There's 3 "Sticky" messages. for DIY'ers.

Look through there and you find a lot of info.

Basically you'll be "summerizing" your boat (assuming it was winterized)

Oil changes etc should usually be done during winterization so you don't have contaminated oil sitting in the engine and drive for the entire winter off-time.

Regards,

Rick
