Re: SELOC Service manuals?

No Lee, the Seloc or Clymers are as good as the OEM manuals. The generics will cover several hp engines thru several years. The OEMs cover a certain group of hp's for a given year. Meaning that you get specific info for your particular engine.

Some sources for reprints up to 96' year are, Ken Cook Co., isomarine, marine.com. They all have web sites. Service manuals for years after 96' can be gotten thru any John/Rude dealer.

Re: SELOC Service manuals?

both seloc and clymers are ok for most work, but they can get confusing due to the amount of materiel and some odd models are not covered.
but for general maint they are ok. for about the sme money you can get a factory specific model though.

I just picked up a oem manual for my 25hp for about $14 on ebay....I would check there first. new and used factory manuals are always popping up on there.

Re: SELOC Service manuals?

I have very little experience with outboard motor repair. I have only done simple things like rebuild carbs, and change water pump. I have both Seloc and original service manual. To me the Seloc is more helpful, but a little tiring to go through because they cover so many models and years. The original Service manuals assume that you know alot about outboard motors and they don't give you much detail. Actually using both is real helpful. I just lucked out and foung an original manual for real cheap.
