Serial Number ????

I recently purchased a 40 hp Johnson electric sea horse, this is according to the cowl. I have looked all over this engine and I can not find a serial or model number anywhere. I have found a few part numbers but that is about it. Any suggestions would HELP...lol this is driving me nuts.

Look like this old one?

Number should be on the gimbal /mount here. This is where most ser./Mod #s are..

Still cant find those darn numbers....I am including a picture of the motor, maybe someone can identify it and then I can locate serial numbers. lol
