Hi Guys,

We recently bought a goverment seized boat. The boat is about a 30' 1997, Carrera. It has twin 200hp Mercury Outboards. Engines looks great and compression is good. We want to change the thermostats, hoses and water pumps prior to trying to starting the engines. Problem is, we can't find any serial numbers or a model numbers on either of the engines. They have all been removed from where they are supposed to be. Does anybody know anywhere else on the engine I can find any numbers that will guide me in finding what year the engine is.

Thanks

If the thieves knew enough to remove the stickers, they probably also removed the welch plugs from the powerheads. If they're EFIs, you may be able to have them ID'd via the computers (dealership service).

They weren't so smart. They left the plug on the welch head. Can you tell me what year this is? The serial number is 0G468970.

Thanks

Motor was registered new on January 25, 1997. The serial number is all you need for parts at any Mercury Dealer.
