serp belt

Wanted to pick up a spare serp belt for my 5.7 L Mercruiser (just in case)- but dealer tells me there is a tech bulletin out for a "plastic pulley" upgrade- so would need the kit for about $130 (includes belt)- question : my 2002 Mercruiser does not appear to have this plastic pulley? and is there a specific place to see these bulletins?<br />thanks...

Dave if you have the metal pully you are ok the only thing that would be a concern is if the steering is not functioning properly. they had a pully size issue but I believe 4.3 was the issue. This is the only thing I would send you to a automotive store for remove your old one and have then match u up. by the way I have not seen a serp belt bad on a boat yet! but it couldnt hurt to have a extra belt/boat under the seat! have fun boats are cool!!!!!!!!!! bob<br /><br />p.s a dealer hooked to merc via computer can punch in your model number and if your unit needs it the bulliton will come up!
