Hello group-New member,

I just aquired a cherry 4.5 Evinrude engine and want to get a service manual for it. It is a 5RHCIC and from the information I found here it is a '81. I looked online and there seem to be several options. I would like something that is as specific for that engine as possible rather than something that covers a broad range of engines. Any help will be appreciated.

I don't want to start a feud but I have a full gallon of Red Line Synthetic Two Cycle Racing Oil from something I was doing and wonder if it would a appropriate lube for that engine at 50-1.

This is a great Forum!!

Re: Service Manual options

On the manual there is nothing like the factory OMC service and parts manual - get both.

Why would you want to use non marine (TCW# rated) oil in a cherry outboard? That is not the place to save $$$.

Oh and - - - WELCOME!!

Solittle,

I must not have made myself clear, I have a gallon of the stuff on the shelf in my shop and I thought maybe this engine might a good place to use it up.

OEM manuals would be ideal, where do I look to find them? Is there a source online?

Thanks Tash.

I will call them Monday.

One thing I would be interested in knowing in the mean time is what the WOT rpm should be. If someone has time to post that for me I would sure appreciate it. BTW, I am putting it on a Crestliner 1236 Jon boat.

Re: Service Manual options

The service manual specifications sheet lists the full throttle operating range at 4500 - 5500 RPM. Idle RPM in gear = 600 RPM.

Some here use the top of the range +/- 300 RPM for setup WOT.

BTW, try 260039400824 on the search window at Ebay.com - you won't find a better deal, I'll bet.

Ezeke,

Thanks for the specs and a huge thank you for the tip on the manual on e-bay. I bought it.
