service manual

I have a 25 hp 84 Evinrude. I am being told that the 84 does not have a separate service manual for that year and the choice is a 79 or 85 manual. Sound right? If so which year is best.

seeing it was built before the 1985 manual was produced, i would say the motor is based on the 79 version.
