Does any of you guys long for this kind of old fashioned customer service treatment with a smile...? :)

From the Southwest, 1967 era.

Seems like I don't get this kind of customer service that common anymore, or is it because I get older...? :D

My son asked me the same question last night (He recently turned 40).

After some discussion we agreed that courtesy and friendly service are fast disappearing from our American culture.

SBN,
you are right (it's "old" 1967 photo), that must be a small change she's (cashier) handing to the man; and I think she's giving him a more valuable think in her smile than the change!

rwise,
you notice that too, no line! In the shelf were the new style touch tone phones for the era; this photo is from the ATT's (my employer)intranet "look back" photos; so yes brine, they were very real for the time...

Edited-corr. ubb codes-4/20/06 10:09pst-st.

This photo must be heavily retouched. The people in this photo are in there 60's or 70 years old but look much younger.

I could not agree more. I practice both, that's why I am succesful, at what I do.

I also like to fly the much maligned (Wal Mart of the Air) Southwest Airlines.

They deal with the same issues as every other airline, at least they're nice about it and don't lie to you (ahem: Northwest, America West, American, Continental, etc.) take note. Every one of the above mentioned, except SWA, has booted me out of a good seat because of a "whining" passenger. When the door is closed, they can do whatever they want.

It's so "hip" to bash SWA. I find the biggest SWA bashers fly-very little. For someone that flies ALLOT, I have NO issues. They get me there on time. If not, they tell me why, no BS. Give me a decent seat and a freindly atmosphere, I'm fine.

I have a hard time finding fault, with that.

I drive to Love Field in Dallas to fly SWA, instead of going to the much closer DFW. SWA price and service cant be beat. Now if we could get rid of that idiotic Wright Amendment....

I live in a small Ontario town (11000). People are friendly or they don't do buisness. People talk,,, and they value the opinions of their neighbours. A non happy counterperson gets replaced quick! :)

When I moved up to the Texoma region from DFW I imediately noticed a change in attitude and a friendlier atmosphere. I was initialy suspicios when strangers would start conversations in line or a cashier would ask irrelevant questions about my well being! I first thought every female clerk/cashier etc was flirting with me, until I realized it was just friendliness.

Yeah..., I really enjoy living among the friendly/caring people... We did once, in Lexington, Ky; albeit it was only for a year back in younger years in the early 70's.

I remember one day, we had a very pleasant surprise to us: as I was pushing my '66 VW bug alone on a street-wife inside the car-; all of a sudden a local man driving a truck came close to me and offered me if he could help me push the VW?!! I wanted to fall back, but could not, I was leaning forward !! :D

If this were in the big metro city-like were we are living now-the guy'd probably yell, swear or give me finger etc...

Those were the days...my friends...
