Hi, I put a new motor on this year '98 70 hp Johnson on my '92 Teacker tx17. I am not sure how high I can go with the motor height (no water pressure gauge) I took a picture with a square lined up along the bottom of the boat to show where the prop is.
Suggestions ?

if the square is in line with the bottom of the hull the engine needs to be trimmed out. the way it's sitting now, it's pushing the bow down. the AV plate should be inline with the top of the square. and up 1/2 to 1 inch.

We will need a picture showing the motor and the transom of the boat. What you want is the A/V plate lining up with the bottom of the boat when it is trimmed to a level position.

If you are going to keep raising the motor to get ultimate performance, a water pressure gauge is an essential. You can actually end up with the top pickup holes out of the water. The guys that are jacking up really high sometimes epoxy the top holes. I wouldn't think you would end up going to this extreme on a 70 though.
