The Seloc manual(I know they suck) says to first set the dwell. What is dwell? I thought it was something to do with points, not HEI (I know nothing about points). I assume it is a misprint of some sort? Can anyone walk me through setting the timing on the Thunderbolt IV. Don't you just start the boat, let it get to temp, use a seperate tac and set it at 8 deg. btdc?

You are right, dwell has to do with points ignition.

I set my timing on my 4.3 this way......

Warm engine...
set idle speed....
set timing to 8 degrees BTDC
reset idle..
checked timing again....
